A First For All

It's a story of boy meets girl - girl meets boy in the most unlikely of places. And I just so happened to be there for the start of it all. It goes without saying that, for Katherine and Jeremy to invite me to capture such a beautiful and important piece of yet another chapter in their life together, I am quite honored.

Jeremy and Katherine's story is a beautiful one. One that began one week in March on the Appalachian Trail and continues to this day, more than four years later. Married just over one year after meeting and now expecting their first child three years after that, Jeremy and Katherine are such a wonderful example of what it means to love and to build a family out of that foundation of sacrifice - of patience - of adoration and respect.

They are such a fun, energetic, and easy-going couple. That being said, an abandoned barn out on a distant country road in Middle Tennessee was the absolute perfect setting for their maternity session, today. Braving the tallest grasses known to man, an unexpected trip to the local convenience store for double-A's, and the requisite unknowns that exist for a setting like this, Katherine and Jeremy were a stellar pair.

Here's just a peek at just one great shot from our late afternoon together:

Shooting Friends

Has mixed with it both a voracious desire to get it right and the natural inclination to loosen up and have fun.

Thankfully both were easy with Molly on our afternoon shoot in Downtown Nashville.

Portfolio Session: [Lightning Crashes]

Also known as friends Erin and Ashley, who offered up some of their time on Friday to scoot around some often overlooked locations with me in Downtown Nashville. We had a blast and with two beautiful women (one of which is a former model) at the ready, you just can't go wrong!

Everyday Portraits: [Natalie]

Natalie and I went to Centennial yesterday to get some shots of her being, well, Natalie. When one of your best friends asks you to take pictures of her, that should be an easy thing, right? Well, I was nervous. But it was lots of fun and though she might have thought otherwise, Nat was great in front of the camera.

I have lots of favorites from the bunch, but these were the first that struck me.

I hope they strike you too.

[Feel free to check out more shots as I upload them on my Flickr site.]

When I found out this little gem:

...is going to be a big sister!

Now if only I can figure out a way to get first dibs on some infant shots...

Everyday Portraits: [Brad and Wendy]

Yesterday, I had my first official shoot. I feel so validated, now.

The beauty of two people who love each other beyond comprehension, the chilly fall air and sights of of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and the familiarity of friends (and family) made for a fun time.

Meet Brad and Wendy:

If you're interested in a low-key, fun, and inexpensive way to get your pictures done for this year's Christmas cards... I'm in business. Seriously. I really enjoy this stuff and it helps to have people want their pictures taken.

p.s. Who says you can't practice on yourself, either?
