Shooting my 25th Birthday

It's amazing how birthdays evolve over time. When you're young, it's as if the whole day exists to celebrate you. To recognize your existence and bring you the best things in life: friends, cake, and presents.

Now that I'm old, it's just not the same. You realize how big the world is and in perspective, how few people know it's actually your birthday. But don't get me wrong; it's still a good kind of different. It just makes you appreciate what it means to take in the world around you while still treasuring the annual celebration of the passing of time. Time marked by the years I've been alive.

So this birthday, the one that marks my having been around for a quarter of a century, was spent taking pictures. Seemingly insignificant, but kind of momentous if you ask me.

I shot my first wedding as an Associate for Gray Photography. It was a short, intimate, and quite memorable wedding and reception in Downtown Nashville. And as if that wasn't enough, Cliff and I ventured back to Franklin for some playing "after the rain" in Pinkerton Park - light stands, diffuser stands, and camera gear in tow.
