You know that saying, how sometimes love finds you when you least expect it. When life is moving along with little to no expectations, and in walks that love that you couldn't believe might one day be yours. But it's unrecognizable at first, and then it grows slowly. One lucky and beautiful day you discover it like some long-ago buried treasure which you work your tail off to dig after and to preserve and to protect.
I see that story, and get that feeling, when I'm with Nicole and Charley.
Two amazing souls who have found, in each other, a perfect match. Complementary in so many ways and undeniably happy. They navigated first through their world as colleagues, then as friends, and now as, soon-to-be, lifetime companions.
I can't think of many times in my life when I've been with people who so uniquely and perfectly express the sense of comfort that relationship with the right person brings into your life. They've got it all. Laughter. Freedom. Joy. All of the things we don't always cling to when life is difficult and incredibly, well - like life often is.
And they might not always remember it's there, but I have a feeling it won't be hard to tap into when it becomes necessary. Because it will be necessary.
Already, they have the commitment to make it last.
To not lose sight of what matters most.
To see the best in each other.
To take it all in stride.
And to be patient.
Because again, the unexpected treasure, is often the one you work the hardest for.
I'm excited for what's in store for these two, and am grateful for the honor it is to tell this part of what has already been - and I am certain will be - a grand love story. Because it's theirs. And it's them.
And it's exactly the way it was all meant to be.
